The use of the electric torque wrench is very simple and easy to operate. It is mainly divided into two parts, including the tightening operation of the bolt and the removal of the bolt. Below, TorcStark will be introduced in detail.

Torque selection and adjustment

1. Users can choose the fixed torque electric wrench of corresponding specifications within the range of 100Nm—8000Nm.

2. There is a “torque adjustment” button on the control panel to adjust the torque.

3. Adjustment method: The product is shipped with a torque test data card for user reference when calibrating. Users can set the required torque and tighten the bolts according to the operation method of tightening bolts. If you don’t know the torque required when tightening the bolt, you can use a force-measuring wrench or other force-measuring instrument to measure the actual torque value of the bolt, then set the torque and tighten the bolt.

Bolt tightening operation

1. Confirm that the adjustable torque electric wrench is charged or connected to the power source to ensure that it has sufficient power.

2. Install the reaction bracket and tighten the screws. Start the main engine so that the square head pin hole corresponds to the reaction force bracket hole, then install the wrench sleeve, insert the pin, and fix it with a rubber ring.

3. Adjust the torque knob of the controller to the required torque value. If necessary, use the torque regulator to adjust the torque value of the electric torque wrench. Usually, there is a display or indicator light that shows the set torque value. Turn the main machine’s forward and reverse switch to the forward position, and put the wrench sleeve on the six sides of the threaded connector.

4. Press the power switch and start the wrench. When the force arm of the reaction bracket is firmly close to the fulcrum (the fulcrum can be an adjacent bolt or other position that can be used as a fulcrum), the bolts start to be tightened. When the bolt torque reaches the predetermined torque, the wrench automatically stops, the tightening is completed, and the power switch is released to tighten the next bolt.

5. After the wrench automatically stops, the elastic deformation force of the reaction bracket causes the bracket arm to automatically break away from the fulcrum and remove the wrench. If the force arm cannot break away from the fulcrum, you can flip the forward and reverse switch, press the power switch, and the wrench can be removed.

6. Depending on different bolt or nut specifications and usage environments, different torque values and torque heads may need to be selected to ensure working results and safety.

Bolt removal operation

When the wrench is used to remove the bolt (reverse rotation), the operation method is the same as the tightening operation, except that the forward and reverse switch is moved to the reverse position to prevent the power switch from being turned on after the bolt is loosened.

Precautions for operating electric torque wrenches:

1. The tightening of high-strength bolts must be carried out in at least two steps. The first time is the initial tightening. The minimum torque value of the initial tightening is not less than 40% of the tightening torque value. The second time is the final tightening; to ensure that all bolts in the bolt group are stressed evenly, the initial and final tightening should be performed in strict accordance with the tightening sequence. Operate symmetrically.

2. Strictly follow the operating procedures of the electric torque wrench. The bolts that have been initially tightened should be marked for confirmation to prevent missing bolts. When installing bolts, ensure that the friction surface is dry, and the final tightening torque must be in accordance with the set value requirements.

3. The torque or pre-tightening force of the bolt is affected by external forces, temperature changes, vibration and other factors. The final torque value is different each time. The torque deviation is normal within ±5%.

4. For electric wrenches with set torque, the bolt can be rotated 30° from pre-tightening to tightening. There is no need to use the wrench again for bolts that have reached the set torque. Otherwise, the bolt torque will increase, and the load on the bolt and electric wrench will increase, causing damage to the bolt and wrench.

5. It is very important to hold and use the fixed torque electric wrench correctly. Hold your hand around the wrench handle and align it with the bolt or nut. Make sure you have a firm grip to prevent the wrench from slipping or losing control. At the same time, avoid applying force sideways or transversely during use to avoid the wrench breaking or causing other safety issues.

6. When using an electric torque wrench for tightening operations, please ensure that the torque wrench is in full contact with the bolt or nut. Do not apply excessive force at will to avoid damaging the bolts and nuts. Apply consistent and sustained force and pay attention to the wrench indication. When the wrench reaches the set torque value, it will make a clear warning sound or stop rotating.

7. In addition to the correct use method, regular maintenance and upkeep of the electric torque wrench is also very important. Keep the wrench clean and dry to prevent dust and moisture from entering the inside of the wrench. Regularly check whether the wrench’s cord and power plug are intact to ensure a safe and reliable working environment. Additionally, it’s a good idea to perform regular maintenance and calibration according to the manufacturer’s recommendations to ensure your wrench’s accuracy and performance. Clean and replace the grease regularly. Generally, after 5,000 times of operation, cleaning and refueling should be performed to extend the service life.
